There have been many new developments in the world of interior design with a range of great products coming on to the market that can greatly improve the appearance of your home and save you money at the same time.
A new range of glass products has been created for use in hot countries that can dramatically reduce the use of air-conditioning and therefore save you money on your electricity bills. Low-E glass has been specially designed to minimize solar heat gain which is essential for controlling cooling expenses. In appearance it is similar to normal window glass but it has been specially treated to block more than 60% of the total solar energy that it receives. Spectrally selective glass is another recent innovation and allows architects to take full advantage of natural daylight while at the same time lowering solar heat loads. This results in a decreased reliance on artificial forms of cooling and lighting and of course reduced utility bills.
There are also lots of great new products available for your flooring requirements as well. Nothing looks as good as a real timber floor in a contemporary and stylish new house or apartment. A new range of flooring called Massive Plank has been created and it is particular suitable for large spaces and big rooms. As the name suggests these timbers are much bigger than standard floorboards as they are 190mm or larger wide and ranging from 1.5 to 2.5m long. They can be used in a variety of commercial and domestic locations and are made from a wide range of woods including oak, cedar and beech.
Re-toned timber veneer is a new product that has been created to take advantage of what was previously a low grade by product of the logging industry and turn it into a beautiful and contemporary flooring solution. The re-toning allows manufacturers to remove stains and discolouration from previously unusable pieces of wood and create some amazing products with it.
